This first course for Imams is designed to improve the personal and leadership qualities of Imams in rural communities. The course presents the most important and relevant guidelines for the appointment of Imams, their conduct and behaviour, their responsibilities and limitations, leadership and team-building skills, how to teach the spirit and basics of Islamic worship and manners, and principles for successful islamic outreach.
This second course designed for Imams in rural areas, aims at building upon and reinforcing what was learnt in the first Imam Course. In addition, it trains the Imam in how to conduct marriages, naming ceremonies, funeral prayers and burials. It also teaches them how to share inheritance, distribute zakat, lead the Friday (Jumuah) and ‘Eid prayers, prepare and present sermons and other talks. The Imams are also taken through basic Tajweed of Qur’anic recitation, the lawful (halal) and the prohibited (haram) in Islam, how to handle new Muslims, the Islamic ethics of disagreement, and various conflict resolution and reconciliation strategies.
